| Morning Visit Includes: |
| 1. |
Preparing meals and feeding. For some of us, this can be
quite involved and for others, it is quite simple, we understand everyone is
different and we certainly welcome that variety. |
|
| 2. |
Cleaning cage paper. This is all part of being observant
and attentive to your pet’s needs. I can make sure your bird is eating and not
having any obvious problems with this simple service. |
|
| 3. |
Cleaning food bowls. Cleaning and refilling water bowls or
bottles. Birds can become sick from bacterial growth, so sanitation is very
important to Fabulous Fur and Feathers. |
|
| 4. |
Starting the day! Turning off the nightlight, removing cage
covers, opening blinds and windows as requested, turning on music or
television, rotating toys as requested. |
|
| 5. |
Bath time. My birds love bath time every morning so this is
a service we provide if you would like. I use a spray bottle with lukewarm
water and generate a light mist. We can talk about what your bird likes and
dislikes as well. Some people shower with their birds, myself included, but
this is not a service I provide. Sorry. |
| 6. |
Play time. Some birds, such as Goffins and Green Cheeks,
love to play. Some do not, like my Quaker, Linus. All birds are different and
we want to make sure their environment remains as unchanged as possible while
you are away. |
| 7. |
Medications. Oral medications and topical applications are
all I feel comfortable doing without a second party. Using two people is the
safest way to perform injections, subcutaneous fluids, and gavage feeding since
safety for your pet is my first priority. If these treatments are necessary,
arrangements can be made for an assistant to be present and a nominal fee would
be added. |
|
| Evening Visit Includes: |
| 1. |
Removing dirty food dishes. These are usually those dishes
containing food that will go rotten like veggies, pasta, and bean mixes. Then,
cleaning these dishes for the next day. |
|
| 2. |
Refreshing pellets and other dried foods as needed. Some
birds won’t eat their pellets if they are a little stale, though mine have no
problem. But, if you want a complete pellet change every day, just let me know
and I’d be more than willing to accommodate. For others, a refreshment is all
that’s needed. |
|
| 3. |
Cleaning out water dishes and replenishing. Lots of birds
like to dunk. It is especially important for these birds to have clean water at
least twice daily to prevent illness. |
|
| 4. |
Play time. Flapping, flying, hanging upside down, and even
flinging rubber bands, can be forms of playtime activities. Cuddling can also
be a part of this time. My cockatiel, Oliver, just loves to have her ears
rubbed and neck scratched before bed. Whatever it is for your bird, I will try
to accomodate. |
|
| 5. |
Medications. Treatments can be performed at this time right
before bed. Hopefully the grudge will wear off by morning |
| 6. |
Bed time. Closing the windows and blinds, turning off the
music and/or television, covering the cage, turning on the nightlight. |
